Slackers!

Ok, well, I admit it, we’ve been slackers about posting. Its not that our precious little Baroness is not doing wonderfull things daily, its just that we have been so caught up with life that posting to the site take a back seat a little too often. We’ll see what we can do to correct that.

On the Zoë news front, she had her first official doctor visit last week and things look great. Her Dr proclaims her to be in excellent health. She’s running in about the 55th percentile for weight and 90th percentile for height, so she’s going for the long and lean supermodel look. Our friend Matt pointed out a potential issue with that:
Matt: oh man your gonna have a fit, wait till the boys come knockin
me: I’ll be waiting to do my own knockin… knockin them out!

Zoë has my number…

Well, I really should have written this ages ago, since it happened a while back, but I think it’s still relevant.

One fine day, I came walking in the door from work to see my two favorite people sitting in the rocking chair.  Maryanne had Zoë on her knee, bouncing her around a little.  I came in, said hi to Maryanne and then squatted down to say hi the the Baroness.  She hadn’t really noticed me coming in as she was really interested in looking out the window, but when I started talking to her she turned to look at me and gave the biggest smile I have ever seen from her.  That one little look just made my day (which was already a good one) perfect.  I realized 2 minutes later that I am doomed.  Odds are, my little daughter will be getting anything she wants from me.

Zoë’s first trip…

Well, we decided (against the usual naysayers advice) to take Zoë on her first trip down to San Diego. During the trip, she officially hit 5 weeks old. She did amazingly well. We were worried about the flight down, but she ended up eating on and off through the trip down to San Diego and sleeping through the whole flight back. She was a model passenger.

We got in around 1:30 and headed over to Comic-Con. Comic-Con has been a regular event through our lives given that her momma worked in the industry for quite some time. One of the interesting things about Comic-Con is its where we get to see a lot of our friends. Our friend Justin let us stay at his house since he would be staying at a hotel next to the convention center, for which we are extremely thankfull for. It was nice to have a place larger than a hotel room where we could have some down time.

While at the convention, we got to see plenty of our friends. We saw Joe and Dottie, all of Maryanne’s cronies at Oni Press, crazy Tommy, the Moore’s, Judd and a few others that I am sure I’m forgetting. Zoë did well at the convention, but I have to admit that the parking and crowds bugged me a little. To unwind after the convention on Friday, we headed over to Lolita’s for some comfort food.

Friday evening and most of Saturday, we got to hang out with our great friends, the Stier’s. Ben and Jessica were some of our first friends in San Diego and we’ve kept in touch with them when we left. They have two wonderfull kids, Uly (Zoë’s future husband) and Garland. We had a great time sitting around talking, eventhough it was 102 degrees in San Diego that weekend. We had a blast spending time with them and can’t wait to go back and visit again soon.

Best…Father’s…Day…EVER!

Zoë kiddo,
I have to admit that it will be tough to top this Father’s Day. We brought you home from the hospital just last night and we all spent our first sleepless night together. Bright and early, the Newborn Club at Kaiser called to have us come in to check and make sure you weren’t all jaundiced. Turns out you weren’t, but they had a really great nurse there that made us feel like we weren’t doing everything wrong, so it certainly was worth getting up.

But that wasn’t the reason why Father’s day was so great. During the afternoon, it seemed like a good time for a nap and your sweet mother brought you in to the room and put you on my chest for a nap. The next couple of hours laying there really brought it into focus that you were finally here and would be part of our lives forever. We’re glad you’re here, kiddo.
