Introducing the Baroness von ChauChau
The Baroness von ChauChau has come to visit. Who is this royalty, you ask? None other than Zoë, when she decides that to stop eating is to die. She eats for hours until she falls asleep, and then lounges majestically in her swing until it’s time to wake up and chow down once again. We think she’s somewhere around 12 lbs now, which is a nice healthy size for a baby. I don’t have anything clever to say to end this post, so I’ll just end it.

Zoë smiles
I got in big trouble yesterday when Zoë smiled at her grandma and said grandma realized that no one had told her that Zoë’d started smiling. So I’m telling everyone now. Zoë smiles. And it is dang cute. Pictures to come.

An Eating Machine
We took Zoë into the doctor’s today to be weighed, and she’s HUGE! She was born weighing 7 lbs 9 ounces, and today, a week later, she’s at 7 lbs 12 ounces. It can take up to two weeks for babies to get back to their birth weight, and she’s managed it in a week. We’ve decided this is because she was a week late, so she’s rushing to catch up. The nurses say she’s doing fantastic, and are really pleased with her eating. And so am I, because they’ve given us the go ahead to let her wake us up at night when she wants to eat, instead of us waking her up every three hours. And that is a beautiful, beautiful thing. I was really kind of worried that the breastfeeding would be difficult or a problem, but we’ve been really blessed that she’s caught on so quickly. Go go Zoë, eating machine!
